Andrée Melly is an English actress whose career spanned much of the Fifties and the Sixties. She is possibly best known as Gina in the Hammer horror movie, "The Brides of Dracula."
The sister of the late jazz musician, George Melly, she was born September 15 1932 in Liverpool, England. Not much of her career is known, but she appeared in several British films, including the comedy "The Belles of St Trinian's" and the Hammer horror film, "The Brides of Dracula." She also played Tony Hancock's French girlfriend in two series of "Hancock's Half Hour" radio series from 1955 to 1956. In 1958, she appeared with actor Lloyd Reckord in the Ted Willis play, "Hot Summer Night." She also appeared on several British television shows through the 50s and 60s, including two episodes of "The Benny Hill Show" in 1971.
In the early years of the long-running BBC radio comedy, "Just a Minute," she was a regular panelist, along with Sheila Hancock, appearing in fifty-four episodes between 1967 and 1976. She also was the first panelist to win points for talking for the prescribed sixty seconds without hesitation, repetition or deviation.
Today, she lives in Ibiza with her husband, Oscar Quitak.
